When to Book Christmas Light Installation in Bowling Green
Every year the same thing happens: the first cold snap hits, everyone calls at once, and the best install dates are already gone. Here's the calendar we actually work to.
The short answer: September and October
If you want your choice of installation dates, book in September or October. Design walk-throughs happen quickly in early fall, materials get ordered against a known scope, and you can pick a date that fits your family's schedule rather than taking whatever's left.
Installation itself begins in late September and runs through early December. Booking early doesn't mean your lights go up early — it means your date is reserved. Most homeowners choose a mid-November install so the display is ready the week of Thanksgiving.
Why the December rush is a real problem
By the first week of December, the calendar is full and the weather is working against everyone. Cold rain, ice on shingles, and short daylight hours all slow installs down, which means fewer jobs per day and a longer wait for anyone calling late.
There's also a materials issue. Custom-cut runs need enough lights on hand for your specific roofline. Early bookings let us stock accurately; late bookings compete for whatever remains.

Here's how a typical season lays out for our crews:
- August – early October: commercial site surveys and multi-building scheduling
- September – October: residential consultations, quotes, and date reservations
- Late September – mid-October: Halloween lighting installs
- Early November: Halloween-to-Christmas swaps
- Late October – early December: Christmas installations
- December: in-season service calls and emergency repairs
- January: takedown, inspection, labeling, and storage
