Warm white: the classic

Warm white C9 bulbs are the most requested look we install, and for good reason. The amber tone flatters brick, stone, and wood, it photographs beautifully, and it reads as timeless rather than trendy. On a home with strong architectural lines — gables, dormers, columns — warm white draws the eye along the structure instead of shouting over it.

If you want the display to feel expensive and understated, this is the default answer.

Cool white: crisp and modern

Cool white has a blue-leaning tone that pairs well with gray siding, black window frames, and contemporary builds. It also cuts through a snowy or heavily lit street better than warm white.

The caution: on a warm-toned brick house, cool white can look clinical. Mixing warm and cool on the same facade almost never works — pick a lane.

Multicolor: fun, family, nostalgia

Multicolor C9s are joyful and unapologetic. They work best on homes with simple rooflines where the color itself is the feature, and they're the top pick for families with young kids.

A middle path many clients love: warm white on the roofline for structure, with multicolor on trees, shrubs, or the porch. You get the polish and the personality.

Red and warm white

Alternating red and warm white along a roofline is a strong, traditional look that stays readable from the street. It suits farmhouses, historic homes, and downtown storefronts. Keep the pattern consistent across the whole facade — random spacing reads as a mistake.

How to decide in five minutes

Ask yourself three questions during your consultation:

• What color is your brick, siding, or stone? Warm materials favor warm white.
• Who is the display for — the neighborhood, or your kids? Neighborhood polish leans white; kids lean multicolor.
• Do you want the roofline to be the feature, or the landscape? Structure gets white; landscape can take color.
